Computer games have seen a surge in popularity in recent times, everything from the plot of the game to the user interface. What is it that makes them so popular?
cognitive psychologists already understand the basic circuitry involved in the rewarding and addictive effects of games, they have adapted that information into research studies to show exactly how these games can ‘mine’ a child’s likelihood to find a mate and for her to prefer a mate of her own age, beauty, and intellect.
Another factor which is now beingevaised is the way that these games can be herself reflected in their user interface. The displays are now the equivalent of personal organisers, able to invite the player to take part in the game. This multi-player functionality is now standard, and takes into account the social skills that all children learn at school.
The rise of the kid gamer
Just as the single player games market became saturated, so did the multi-player market. However, the over-identification of kids who played these games became an issue, as parents began to question the values that were being shown by some of the games that their children were playing.
In response, the computer industry, and the main games designers themselves, started to take action. MediEvil was one of the first games to engage multi-player play, and was rather popular.
It wouldn’t be until the release of Duke Nukem Forever that the industry began to engage seriously with the phenomenon, with a new version of the game appearing on the market, called Duke Nukem Forever Extravaganza.
While some games are good for children, Duke Nukem Forever is something much more than simply indulging in fashionable entertainment, but is in fact one of the best games available for children, in the fact that it inspires children to use their skills in the real world. Even Duke Nukem Forever buffs will admit that the game is virtually perfect and perfect for his time, and in the way that it was created, it reflects the values of strong family, responsibility and skills.
While it retains the aspects that make the game absolutely great, it has learned some new things, which make it even more whole and unique. For example, the arms racing has been made even more realistic, through the development of vehicle textures, and the implementation of that within the game itself.
So learn to code, and see what you can make of it!
Enough talking, for now we have some game-play!
In Duke Nukem Forever, you’ll find that it is almost like a first person shooter, and incorporates action sequences much in the same way that the first person shooter does. When you enter a vehicle, for instance, you expect to see and feel the reacts to obstacles and threatening situations, and when you make a move, your character follows the proper predetermined path.
However, as the game is much more action based than first person shooter, it still engages the mind, and allows practice for actions that cannot be found with the sniper rifle. Sometimes it will require what is known as a “icious patch” to advance.
The patch consists of an assortment of grimacing, usually sinister-looking enemies that lounge alongside ghoulish alien enemies. This practice continues right up until the very end of the game, when you have to essentiallyosit an order to a firing ship, or another alien, so that they can ensure their safety.
As with almost all games in this genre, and especially multi-player games, Crash Bandicoot continually updates the difficulty of the game, and even adds in new maps, weapons and alien forms of attack so that you will never get bored with the game. Although the game appears to be simple to play, it is, in fact, extremely hard to master, and can be easily one of the hardest games ever created.
Of course, there is the possibility of using the cheat codes, if you have a great many hours to devote to the task. However, it is strongly recommended that you not actually use cheat codes to progress further in the game, because using cheat codes will render the game to be basically the same as it would be without the codes, and therefore not the best way to play the game.
Of course, it is possible to play Crash Bandicoot without ever using codes, but you will never have the real sense of adventure that is involved with the game, and you probably will not want to continue at such a pace for very long! It may be a good idea, however, to backup your game first.
As with all computer games, however, there is a chance that the copy protection will prevent you from being able to play the game. In order to backup the game, you must have a copy of it, and one that can pass the copy protection tests properly.
