History:
DotA began life as an offshoot of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and Due to popular demand ( DotA is an informal term for “Defense of the Ancients”) the game was created.
Gameplay:
Gameplay of DOTA is Floor of the Mountain (A map where there is only one entrance and one exit, the players have to kill the opponents team in the common method, a few modifications have been made to accommodate for various play styles. The game does not follow the traditional FPS layout yield good results in a single player mode, so a split screen mode is required to play it properly.
A delay between rounds discourages players from playing only to reach the next round as getting killed in one round wastes time getting back to the later one. Multiplayer servers are available.
There are 5 heroes a player can use, each have their own abilities, strengths and weaknesses.

Players have the ability to buy items during the game with real money. Since real money is involved, hacks must be removed and the exploit that causes player to lose items permanently has to be tracked.

The Competitive Play

The game displays damage based upon how much damage is inflicted upon the opponent. If there is significant damage done the display shows both critical and regular damage inflicted on the opponent. Basic damage indicators also appear for important spells doing damage to the opponent.
When you start the game you are required to choose a hero to enlist for the next phase of the game. In the phase of creating the hero you can choose skills from each tier. In the beginning you have to choose whether you want to play offensive or support role.
During the match you will notice that you do a lot of movement, the more you move more spots down the map will open up for you, you are basically racing against the clock to beat the opposing teams heroes to the experience points in the greatest span of time. Not only you will be racing against the clock but you will also be racing with your abilities. Whenever a player kills a opponent he gains the ability to use that abilities.
There is a hefty focus on using the ability power. Each ability in the game has a different casting time and a different range of casting times and ranges. You also get to choose what part of your hero will cast the spell.
At first it might seem a bit complicated, but once you get accustomed to using the heroes and the layouts of the game it will be intriguing, making you feel like the pro gamers who scores hundreds of Congratulations after playing each match, each match seems to be a new challenge.
